VW Golf GTW #1 in Record Month, Italy

The Italian PEV passenger car market was up 248% Year-on-Year, having registered a record 595 units in June, with the YTD tally now at 2 266 units, up 56% YoY.

In June, the restyled Volkswagen Golf GTE had its full sales month in Italy, scoring an impressive 59 registrations, its best result in over two years, ending ahead of the hot-selling Mini Countryman PHEV (52 units), and the evergreen Nissan Leaf, that with 51 registrations, was up three fold regarding the same month last year.

Year-to-date, the Nissan Leaf is still comfortably ahead, with 288 registrations, followed by the BMW 225xe Active Tourer (237 units) and the Mercedes GLC350e (206).

The PEV Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) market is also on positive ground, up 29% this year to 304 units, with the Nissan e-NV200 Van leading (160 registrations) the market, ahead of the Citröen Berlingo EV (51 units) and Peugeot Partner EV (29).

Italy is the largest market in Europe for LPG and NG, with Natural Gas passenger cars market being down 39% to 16 548 units, with the LCV (N1) category also down, by 25%, to 1 928 units.

Reversely, LPG cars (M1) and vans (N1) are growing, with the first category up 26% to 71 893 units, while the second category is up 56% to 1 473 units.
